Emergency Aid

Many Maroni residents will have noticed the new box outside the village office. This box contains an AED (automated external defibrillator) and basic protective items (masks, gloves). This could be a life-saving aid to help someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

On the outside of the box there are instructions to first call emergency services, then to start CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and then to use the AED before transferring to an ambulance for advanced care.

At present the Mukhtar and Georgia are the only representatives who have the code for the box, but once the local authority has arranged an appropriate training programme several village residents will have access as well as the knowledge of the necessary procedures.

We hope to keep you informed of progress shortly.
