Maroni active volunteers have now received a wheelchair and walking frame as a result of the successful collection of bottle tops in Maroni village. The wheelchair and/or walking frame are available to any village residents who may find that they require such things short term in exchange for a refundable deposit. Contact the active volunteers committee if you require further information.
Thank you to all who helped to collect the plastic bottle tops to make this possible within our village. The collection of plastic bottle tops will continue and the collection skip is placed outside Maria’s village supermarket behind what was Maroni co-op bank.
Theonitsa the village butcher now has a collection point inside the butcher’s shop for battery recycling. Batteries contain a number of heavy and toxic chemicals and it’s advisable to recycle rather than disposing with the refuse. Many types of batteries can be recycled such as those from mobile phones, computers and general household batteries.
