Waste Disposal Update

Many of our readers will have noticed that the village rubbish disposal facility has now been relocated to a site below the old one, after the previous site has been taken over for an extension to the cemetery.

The facility exists to help residents who may find it hard to transport items to the major recycling facility in Kofinou and your co-operation is requested to ensure that the site can be maintained and kept tidy. Opening hours are Wednesdays and Saturdays between 2pm and 5pm.

The area is intended for the disposal of household items such as beds, sofas and old electrical appliances such as washing machines or TVs. It is NOT allowed for the disposal of cuttings and prunings, nor for commercial use.

The maroni.life team would like to remind you that suppliers of new household goods will remove the old items at no cost, or for a very small fee. Also, there are recycling facilities opposite Maria’s Discount supermarket for glass and for clothing/fabrics as well as the Cans For Kids aluminium collection point outside Theonitsa’s butcher’s shop.
