The start of the Orthodox Lent, Καθαρά Δευτέρα – Clean Monday – falls on 18th March this year.
The Maroni Community Council has announced that all cleaning and inspections of the village picnic area have been completed in readiness. Tables and chairs will be available in the area.
Everyone is invited to join in the event and to bring kites and picnic baskets with the traditional Lenten foods* and join in the fun.
* typically squid, octopus, prawns and mussels, along with bread, salads, vegetables, pulses and pickles (meat and dairy products are not consumed at this time)
