Voting in UK for British Citizens living Overseas

It has been announced recently the ending of the rule banning British citizens from voting in UK elections if they live permanently overseas. Registering entitles you to vote in General Elections and some referenda (the latter depends on the rules for each particular referendum).

If you wish to register, go to https://www.gov.uk/voting-when-abroad.

The site is very simple and fast – have to hand your passport information and National Insurance number, plus the address at which you were last registered to vote in UK.

Once registered you can choose to vote in person, by proxy or by post. The link is available on the same website. Although you can apply to vote by post online, the actual voting is not possible online.
