The Cyprus Government has announced a series of relaxations in the rules governing Covid Regulations. Below is a summary of the points most relevant to our readers:

As of Monday 11th April 2022:

  • protective masks outdoors will be optional
  • the ‘SafePass’ will no longer be required at businesses serving the public  (this is understood to be places such as banks), government departments, archaeological sites, museums, galleries, fairs, construction sites etc.
  • the ‘SafePass’ is no longer required at work places (it is recommended that self-test are conducted in case of symptoms). This does not apply to workers at old people’s homes and medical centres, or health professionals
  • people who have been isolated due to Covid-19, can be released on the 7th day without a Rapid Test, provided they have no symptoms. Earlier release can be achieved if they test negative to a PCR test on the 5th day at their own cost
  • the self-isolation period of close contacts is reduced to 5 from 7 days, provided they do not have symptoms
  • the period of “test to stay” measure to be reduced from 7 to 5 days, wherever the measure is applied
  • 100% capacity in cinemas and theatres will be allowed
  • visits to patients in hospitals permitted with a rapid test

As of Monday 18th May 2022 the following measures will apply:

  • the Cyprus Flight Pass will be scrapped; unvaccinated travellers will only be required to provide proof of a negative 24-hour rapid test or 72-hour PCR test
  • no ‘SafePass’ will be needed in retail trade and malls, with the exception of restaurants in malls
