The Coordinating Committee of the nine communities of the Vasilikos area have issued the following press release:
The Community Councils and the Citizens of the Nine Communities of the Vasilikos Area expressed their frustration during the gathering that took place on Thursday the 17th of February 2022 at the Zygi Community Council. The gathering was a Public Consultation about the Asphalt Plants that are being transferred to Kalavasos.
The Protestors from all Nine Communities agreed unanimously that the Asphalt Plants are not welcome and they disrupted the consultation and refused to let it take place.
The Presidents of the Community Councils declared that any contact with the authorities on the issue will be terminated and they announced that they are going to move lawfully against everyone who is responsible.
After the protest, the Presidents had a meeting where they discussed the issue and they came to the conclusion that our next steps have to be more powerful and efficient. Therefore, we are organizing another Protest on Saturday the 26th of February (26/02/2022) at 10:00 am where we are going to block the traffic on the highway from Nicosia to Limassol.
