The Civil Defence Department has warned the public to take the appropriate measures as heavy rain, thunderstorms, near gale force winds and high seas are forecast between 21:00 on Saturday and 13:00 on Monday. It said a combination of prolonged rainfall and localised heavy thunderstorms were expected. They recommend ensuring rain gutters at your home or business are not obstructed, and taking the right precautions in case they have a basement or live in an area prone to flooding.
People in general were urged to limit their movements and if outside, not try to cross flooded streets on foot, on a bicycle or motorcycle, it us recommended to turn around and drive away or walk away from flooding and avoid areas with power lines or prone to rockfall.
