As of Monday 8th November establishments that require the ‘SafePass’ will start to check your pass digitally by reading the QR code with the CovScan Cyprus application. this will give a green or amber light for all valid passes. A green light signifies full vaccination or having recovered from Covid whilst the amber light confirms a PCR or rapid test with negative result. Red shows that the pass is invalid.
To be able to enter such establishments you will need to have the EU Digital Covid Certificate downloaded, either on your phone or as a print-out. This means that carrying your vaccination certificate will not be sufficient.
Initially the system will be optional but businesses have until 1st December when it will be compulsory for them to use it.
The Health Ministry states that there is security of personal data – the scan shows only the name and the date of birth and personal data are not stored anywhere
